Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Place the apple mixture in a greased baking dish.
Crumble Topping
- In a separate bowl, combine the remaining brown sugar, flour, oats, and softened butter until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the apples evenly.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
Serving
- Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of cream.
Notes
To store leftover apple crumble, let it cool completely, cover with plastic wrap or foil, and refrigerate. It should be good for 3 to 4 days. Can also be frozen for longer storage. Adjust spices according to taste.
