Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Wash the sweet potatoes thoroughly under cold running water with a vegetable brush if needed.
- Prick each potato all over with a fork to prevent bursting while baking.
- Optionally, rub a small amount of olive oil on the outside of the potatoes.
Baking
- Place the sweet potatoes on a foil-lined baking sheet, spaced apart for proper air circulation.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until tender. Check doneness by inserting a fork; it should slide through easily.
- Once done, remove the potatoes from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes before handling.
Serving
- Carefully split the tops of the sweet potatoes open using a sharp knife, without cutting all the way through.
- Add a pat of butter inside each potato and let it melt.
- Season with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
