  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it is fully softened for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat or gluten-free flour.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Optional Toppings

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs and vanilla until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish. Add any optional toppings you like.
Baking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let cool in the baking dish, then slice and serve.

Notes

Measure ingredients accurately for best results. Allow butter to soften fully for easier mixing. Don't overbake; check for doneness a few minutes early. Experiment with different toppings to find your favorite combination.
