Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. Gradually incorporate the flour and baking powder, stirring until a dough forms.
  5. Gently fold in the chopped cherries, being careful not to break them apart too much.
Baking
  1. Using a scoop or spoon, drop generous dollops of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space for them to spread.
  2. Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the edges just begin to turn golden brown.
  3. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days. These cookies can be frozen; thaw at room temperature or briefly warm in the oven.
