Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- Gradually incorporate the flour and baking powder, stirring until a dough forms.
- Gently fold in the chopped cherries, being careful not to break them apart too much.
Baking
- Using a scoop or spoon, drop generous dollops of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space for them to spread.
- Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the edges just begin to turn golden brown.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days. These cookies can be frozen; thaw at room temperature or briefly warm in the oven.
