Method
Preparation
- Pop the popcorn according to package instructions using an air popper or stovetop method.
- If using stovetop, heat 2 tbsp of oil in a large pot over medium heat, add kernels, and cover. Shake the pot occasionally until popping slows.
Melting the Chocolate
- In a microwave, heat the chocolate chips and butter for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until smooth.
- Avoid overheating; a double boiler works well to melt chocolate gently.
Combining Ingredients
- Pour the melted chocolate over the popcorn and gently toss with a spatula until evenly coated.
Adding Festive Touch
- Sprinkle your choice of Halloween candies and sprinkles on top.
- Toss once more to distribute evenly.
Setting the Treat
- Spread the coated popcorn on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let it cool until the chocolate hardens.
Serving
- Once set, break into clusters and serve in festive bowls or zip bags for easy sharing.
Notes
Store leftover popcorn in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. It's best enjoyed fresh but can be frozen in an airtight container.
