Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 oz Semi-sweet chocolate or dark chocolate Can substitute with dairy-free chocolate
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter Should be at room temperature for easy mixing
  • 2 large Eggs At room temperature
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract Can substitute with almond extract for a different flavor
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour Can substitute with almond flour for gluten-free
  • 1/2 cup Cocoa powder Unsweetened preferred
  • 1/2 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp Salt Enhances chocolate flavor
Optional Ingredients
  • 1 cup Nuts (walnuts or pecans) Chopped, optional
  • 1 cup Chocolate chips Optional for extra chocolate flavor

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate and unsalted butter together in a saucepan over low heat, stirring continuously until smooth.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract until frothy and well-blended.
  4. Fold the melted chocolate mixture into the wet ingredients, ensuring they marry beautifully.
Mixing
  1. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mix to your chocolate mixture, folding gently to avoid overworking the dough.
  2. If adding nuts or chocolate chips, stir them in now.
Baking
  1. Scoop generous tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, keeping them spaced apart.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes until slightly underbaked in the center.
  3. Let the cookies cool completely before enjoying.

Notes

To achieve perfect texture, melt chocolate gently. Rotate the baking sheet halfway for even baking. Avoid overbaking to keep the gooey center.
