Ingredients
  

For the Casserole
  • 8 oz Canadian bacon Chopped
  • 1 onion Chopped
  • 3 oz baby spinach Rinsed
  • 8 oz Gruyère cheese Shredded
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg Ground
  • 2 cloves garlic Minced
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 4 slices bread Optional, cubed

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a sauté pan, cook the chopped onions and minced garlic until translucent.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  4. Layer the chopped Canadian bacon, sautéed onions and garlic, spinach, and shredded Gruyère cheese in a greased baking dish.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the layers.
  6. If using, add bread cubes on top.
  7. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-60 minutes, or until set and golden on top.

Notes

Serve warm, sliced into squares. Garnish with fresh herbs. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
