Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a sauté pan, cook the chopped onions and minced garlic until translucent.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
- Layer the chopped Canadian bacon, sautéed onions and garlic, spinach, and shredded Gruyère cheese in a greased baking dish.
- Pour the egg mixture over the layers.
- If using, add bread cubes on top.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-60 minutes, or until set and golden on top.
Notes
Serve warm, sliced into squares. Garnish with fresh herbs. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
