Method
Preparation
- Gather all the ingredients and preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add the vanilla extract.
Mixing
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, being careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the chopped apples and nuts.
Baking
- Pour the mixture into a greased and floured bundt pan or a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for a bit before transferring it to a wire rack.
- Dust with powdered sugar or frost with cream cheese frosting if desired.
Notes
For best results, use fresh, slightly tart apples. Letting the batter sit for a few minutes before baking can enhance flavors.
