Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Trim the brown ends of the Brussels sprouts and remove any yellow outer leaves.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and pepper, tossing to coat.
Roasting
- Spread the Brussels sprouts on a baking sheet in a single layer.
- Roast for 25 to 32 minutes, shaking the pan occasionally for even roasting.
Preparing Bacon
- While the sprouts are roasting, cook the bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat until crispy, about 5 to 8 minutes.
- Transfer the bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain and cut into bite-sized pieces.
Finishing Touches
- Once the Brussels sprouts are done, toss them with maple syrup and add the crispy bacon, mixing well.
- Sprinkle the dish with pomegranate arils and optional hazelnuts before serving.
Notes
Serve warm as a side dish with roasted meats, or on their own. Consider garnishing with more pomegranate arils or a drizzle of maple syrup for presentation.
