Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Should be softened, not melted.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs Beaten in one at a time.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Adds flavor.
Dry Ingredients
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour Measured accurately.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Chocolate and Sprinkles
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Reserve some for decoration.
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup red, green, and white sprinkles Optional for decoration.
  • 2 tablespoons sparkling or sanding sugar Optional.
  • Powdered sugar for dusting Optional for serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix this dry mixture into the wet ingredients.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet and white chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Scoop the dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving enough space between each ball.
  2. Press in reserved chocolate chips and sprinkles on top.
  3. Optionally, chill the dough balls for about 30 minutes.
  4. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
  5. Let cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack.
Serving
  1. Serve cookies on a festive platter, optionally dusting with powdered sugar.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Can freeze dough for up to three months.
